History of Caluluan High School

The school was organized way back in 1966 ( school year 1966-67) through the joint efforts of the Barrio Council and P.T.A officials of Caluluan, Concepcion, Tarlac, headed by Mr. Victor Mallari ,Bo. Captain ;Mr. Bienvinido Hipolito, PTA President;and Mr. Glicerio Zablan, Principal of Caluluan Elem. School. It started with three full time teachers and one part time teacher with seventy seven (77) students enrolled in the first and second year.           

With the aids received from some civic spirited citizens, the school began to progress as  years go by , until this school entitled to received national aid from the government , plus some textbooks in the schools Division of Tarlac and other aids through solicitation of school were received like scholarship awards , library books & references.

            In 1969, through the efforts of the barrio council and the present teachers association , the Caluluan Experimental Barrio High School was changed to Caluluan Community High School under R.A No. 6054, an act to institute a charter for Barrio High School effective August 4, 1969 and it is known as Caluluan Barangay High School.

            This school has no buildings of its own building being utilized belongs to Concepcion East Elementary Central School( formerly the Caluluan Elementary School where the high school is located. Section 12 & 13 under R.A No. 6054 authorized the used of existing buildings/facilities, hand tools, where the high school is located.

            Efforts has been exerted by this school to standardized instructions. Teachers were encouraged to attend seminars, workshops, conferences, and the like to take up graduated studies with the innovations required off by the Ministry of Education , Culture & Sports our  school look active part in it. Students were also encouraged to do some  income generating and self help projects to support their studies.

Year 1986, restored democracy that marked the installation of a  new governance that signaled new policies of the government, that MECS changed back to DECS. This is a year where a new President Decree has took effect, the Nationalization of all High school in the Philippines that make Caluluan Barangay High school (CBHS) renamed Caluluan Nationalized High School(CNHS).

The change of the schools status bring forth problems to the school head, barangay official. PTA officers and teachers due to the order that the CNHS should leave and be separated from Concepcion East Central Elementary School were they were housed and adopted for two decades.

The then Head Teacher, Mr. Abelardo Corpuz, PTA President, Mrs. Fely Malonzo and the Barangay Captain, Mr. Rodolfo De Vega find for solution to solve the problem. Without hesitant, De Vega Family donated a one hectare parcel of land they tend to be the new site of the school, in which the Caluluan High School stands today.

A series of resolution were prepared, passed and approved for the awarding of buildings of the school. It was first approved and built a 3- classroom building constructed in 1990, specifically finished, July 16, 1990. The building is an allocation of Cong. Hermie Aquino, Community Development Fund(CDF). The year after, in 1991, a partial classes was conducted in the new site, were third year were the first to hold classes, handled by Mrs. Brigida G. Martinez, Mrs. Flor V. Yalung, and Mrs. Cecilia M. Zablan.

For the preceding year, more blessing poured to CNHS, were a SEDP package building is awarded and constructed in 1992 , the two storey building consists of 6 classroom, administrative building and EMIS were constructed. This signaled the new chapter of CNHS, were the full blown happened in the S.Y 1992-1993. The total population of the school then is 782 with 20 teachers and a head teacher, promoted Principal, Mr. Abelardo P. Corpuz.

After the four-year of existence, other infrastructure development started, during the President Fidel V. Ramos Administration in 1997. Three building were added to the school. The first 5-room building was built in the early 1997 form FVR-DECS fund, in June another 3 –classroom building was constructed . Another 2 –classroom was built thru ADB in September 1997.

1998 was a great year for Caluluan HS as it was hosted the Regional PASPA meeting graced by Senator Raul Rocco. It was also the year where it was awarded Regional Best Implementor of Bulaklakan  and Gulayan.

In 1999 Mr. Abelardo P. Corpuz was transferred to BS Aquino High School. S. Y 1999-2000 Mr. Wilfredo Salta served as Officer in Charge and in year 2000 Mr. Isabelo Cano was installed as the new principal until Year 2004.the successor was Mrs. Aida Beltran, she served CHS or less  than a year. Mr. Alberto Gamboa served as OIC of the school after Mrs. Beltran resigned. In S.Y 2004-2005 Mr. Ernesto Cunanan was assigned to be the Principal and served CHS until 2008.

The installation of Mrs. Yolanda Gonzales in S.Y 2008-2009 has brought a lot of successes in Caluluan HS as it was again placed in the limelight. The school also acquired its lot title with her initiative. The CHS annex school was founded in her direction. New buildings were also constructed in her administration.

In the year 2010, an equally talented and hardworking Principal in the name of Mr. Mario M. Tayag was assigned in CHS. The new principal initiated a lot of reforms and projects making CHS as one of the best school in the Division of Tarlac Province and in the entire region.

Mrs. Ferma R. Cayabyab installed as School Head on July 10, 2014 and retired on June 30, 2016.

Mr. Regidor M. Pagcu, a Head Teacher was assigned as the OIC with Special Order dated July 11, 2016

CHS has received various awards such as Regional Best Implementer of Gulayan sa Paaralan, Regional SBM Award( Level 2), and one of the Regional Best Implementer of Brigada Eskwela from 2008-2013.

Bayanihan spirit soar high in our beloved institution as a result of concerted efforts of stakeholders.
